Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

2 for the price of 1: Inspirational Sunday on couldn'ts, shouldn'ts, wouldn'ts

My middle child has been in love with Shel Silverstein's writing since she was probably 5 years old.  She had this one gorgeous 3-book set with a CD of Silverstein reading and during a yard sale at my sister-in-law's house, the books were sold for only a couple of dollars by accident.  She was reading the books while helping at the yard sale, went inside to get a drink and my sister-in-law sold the set.  I thought my daughter was going to cry for a week.  So for Christmas a friend of my daughter's gave her the set again and his book that recently came out, Everything On It.  My 17-year old daughter has carried those books with her everywhere since Christmas Day. I can't wait to get my grandson, the Jellybean Sumo Wrestler, into these wonderfully fantastic poems too

Hope you enjoy your Sunday!

  2. Oh how awful that the books were sold out from under her!!! I'm so glad she got a replacement -- she deserves it after that trauma!!!

  3. Gorgeous image, and I love the quote! Shel Silverstein is awesome. He's been one of my favorites since I was a kid!
