Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

I am no stranger to the world of vampire fiction and mythology, but I can honestly say that I have never seen any book like Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel. Maizel gives us a tale of a vampire coven leader turned human. The book tells of Lenah Beaudonte, a 500 year old powerful vampire queen who wishes for nothing more than to be human. When her longtime vampire lover, Rhode, performs an ancient ritual which gives Lenah exactly what she’s always wanted, she is whisked off to Wickham Private School to begin life in present day new england as a sixteen-year old girl. Lenah tries to blend in, but fails miserably with her tattooed back and large sunglasses she sticks out like a sore thumb. She soon meets Tony, a kindred spirit who doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the crowd either. Just when everything seems to be going well, Lenah meets someone else, a gorgeous teenage boy named Justin who instantly has an impact on her. While Lenah is torn between Tony’s friendship and her strong connection with Justin, darker forces are brewing.

Vicken, a member of Lenah’s old coven, is not so happy that his queen has left without a word and is determined to find where she is. He wishes to restore her to her former glory to ruthlessly rule the coven she violently created. Lenah only wishes to adjust to her new, blood-sucking free life, but Vicken and the coven have other plans. Lenah must run from her bloody past if she is to ever create a bright future for herself as a human girl. Will Lenah be able to live a happy life as a human, and maybe finally talk to the dreamy Justin? Or will she be faced with the gloomy future of living the rest of her days as a pitiless vampire queen?

Infinite Days takes the reader on twists and turns that they didn’t even think were possible in this crazy roller coaster ride of a book. Do not misunderstand me, even though this is a young adult vampire novel, it will have Twilight fans questioning if they really do want a vampire for a boyfriend. Rebecca Maizel does an amazing job of showing both the softer and edgier side of the vampire lore. We can relate to human Lenah and her hardships, but are horrified by her merciless and violent past. Watch out Bella Swan there’s a new vampire “it” girl in town, and her name is Lenah Beaudonte.

Many thanks to the publisher for the complimentary copy for purposes of review.

  5. Hi all thanks for the kind words, I think all of you will like Lenah, she has that something that everyone can relate to as a character. Even if you're not into vampire lore, you should give this book a chance, the character development alone is so worth it.
