Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

Kristin Hannah
Melony and I had the good fortune to attend an author reading by Kristin Hannah at the Margaret Mitchell House in Atlanta.  It was interesting to discover the impetus to Night Road was Hannah's son obtaining his drivers license.  Going through the teenage years, especially the fear of her baby driving, led to Night Road.  One of the interesting questions of the night was which novel that Kristin has written is her favorite?  I've read Firefly Lane and am reading Night Road at the moment, but I have not read Winter Garden - the author's favorite.  I'm anxious to read it now, especially after hearing the research and time that Kristin puts into the novels she writes.  Melony and I came away with a greater appreciation of Hannah's work, and a signed copy to share with you, my sweetest friends.  To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment with your email address.  I will pick the winner with the assistance of random.org on April 30th.  Best of luck to you!

Melony, Kristin, and Stacy
To describe Night Road in one word would be an impossible feat. Beautiful, breathtaking, heart wrenching, and absolutely wonderful are just a few. To say that I experienced the full spectrum of my emotions as I read this is an understatement. As cliché as it sounds, I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I raged with anger. Kristin Hannah is an artist among novelists as she paints a story that will hit close to home to every reader out there.

Night Road tells the story of the Farraday family and Lexi Baill. The Farrdays are a perfect family consisting of helicopter mother, Jude, indulgent father, Miles, and twin brother and sister, Zach and Mia. Mia is the shy and reserved to Zach’s outgoing and boisterous, but they have a strong connection that cannot be broken. On the first day of high school, Lexi Baill meets Mia, the two share a common bond of being the outsiders. Over the years, they become inseparable and Lexi becomes part of the Farraday family. As their friendship blossoms, so does the bond between Lexi and Zach. But this bond turns out to be something more than friendship, and the two soon fall in love. The siblings and Lexi are able to coexist in perfect harmony. Everything is perfect until late into the dark, tragedy strikes on Night Road. This event will not only change the Farraday family, but also Lexi’s future forever. As the story unfolds, we begin to see what tragedy can do to us all, bringing out the best and unfortunately the worst in people.

Night Road is a tale that will make you think you’ve jumped right into the story itself with its up and down, emotional rollercoaster, your heart will be ripped to shreds and patched up again in the same sentence. I recommend this book to anyone, because everyone out there will see a little part of themselves in these characters. I fell in love with this extremely beautiful and saddening novel by the end of the first paragraph. I am not one to often cry at books, but this one pulled at my heart strings at every turn. If you’re looking for a wonderfully-woven story, pick up a copy of Night Road and let both your soul and tear ducts take flight.

It is with great appreciation we received an ARC and a hardbound copy for review from the publisher.
In no way did it influence this review.

  12. There's nothing like your child getting their driver's license to bring you closer to God. I don't think I've ever prayed as often or as hard as I did in the year after our son got his. My sister just read this book and loved it. She said Hannah really knows how to write with emotion. No need to enter me.
