Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

Top Five Book Characters I Want as Family Members

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.  To join in, hop on over to their site for all the details.

1.  The Austin Family created by Madeleine L'Engle: I read the entire Austin series possibly a million times throughout my childhood and teen years just praying that one day I would be transported into the books as Vicky Austin's sister - especially after reading A Ring of Endless Light.  I've always wanted to swim and communicate with the dolphins after reading that book.

2.  Santiago from The Alchemist: Can I be his younger sister who travels along on his journey to the pyramids of Egypt discovering the truth behind his dreams? I adore Paulo Coehlo's writing and the allegories in all of his books; however The Alchemist in its simplicity is simply breathtaking.

3.  To give in to my "mystery" love, I would be ever so happy to have Sherlock Holmes' as a dad and be his sidekick in solving the plethora of crimes!

4.  And can I just say how very cool it would be to have Gandalf from Lord of the Rings as a Grandpa? Can you imagine the wisdom that would come from him being your Grandpappy?

5.  Matilda would be a truly cool little sis to have around!  All that knowledge about books - she could tell me what to read next!
What about you? Do you have a particular character that you would be thrilled if you woke up tomorrow and he or she were a member of your family?
