If you have not met Misha from My Love Affair with Books then you are definitely in for a treat today. She is one of the coolest chikadees out in the book blogosphere and someone I am so happy to serenade today! Misha started My Love Affair with Books and then began incorporating some reviews and commentary from her younger sister, Maxine. I love how affectionate the sisters are towards each other, and it's adorable the "older sister" protectiveness that is apparent with Misha - makes her even more serenade-able if that's even possible!!! And then there's the blog itself, My Love Affair with Books - have you seen the info packed into the What's New Wednesday? I used to do a Literary Happenings post periodically, until I ran across Misha's blog and her WNW posts and whew! Who could compete?!? Who would want to?!? *cheeky grin* And Misha is not only wonderful with her topical and evaluative comments, she is everywhere I go! Can you tell I am in awe of this girl? So help me out in serenading Misha from My Love Affair with Books today - she is one blogger who most definitely deserves our accolades!
What do you do when you're not blogging or reading?
I am a post-grad student - so when I am not blogging or reading, I am working on college assignments haha Apart from reading, I love watching period dramas :) and spending time with friends.
How do you carve out time for blogging, reading, family and life?
I usually schedule my posts beforehand, so it's easier to devote rest of the time to reading, family and college work. Since I am just a student right now, it's easier to balance things. I guess it would be more difficult when I start working.
Describe your favorite place to read and why you love it so much.
My bed! It's just the most comfortable place for me!
Can you share a “me-ism” you are (in)famous for saying, ie – “well butter my butt and call me a biscuit;” or my personal favorite from my mom – “if you’re confused about a situation/relationship, don’t do anything. Wait until you have peace about the decision.”
Whenever any of my friends or family are going through a bad phase, I say "It's going to be ok!", even though I am not sure about whether it really will be ok. haha I try to be optimistic..
If you could speed-date any author who would it be? What questions would you ask?
Ian McEwan! I doubt I will be able to speak in his presence. I might even faint!
If you had to spend the rest of your life on a Greyhound bus and could only bring along 5 books (that’s a lot to carry and hold onto in a small bus seat) what 5 books would you bring?
That's a scary question. I would bring the Lord of the Rings
trilogy, The House at Riverton
by Kate Morton, North and South
by Elizabeth Gaskell, The Birth of Venus
by Sarah Dunant and Atonement
by Ian McEwan.
If your life could be summed up in a book or movie, what would it be – ie, Mission Impossible, The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, etc.
Name 3 songs on your playlist right now. Do you listen to music while you read?
The Blower's daughter by Damien Rice, The Hours movie score and Moulin Rouge soundtrack (that's more than 3 songs, sorry!)
I can't listen to music while I read. I get distracted very easily.
Name a quality you admire in others and a quality you like about yourself.
I admire kindness and compassion in others.
A quality I like about yourself is loyalty. I am always there for my friends and family no matter what.
Name 3 things on your bucket list. (things to accomplish in your lifetime)
- Get a good and satisfying job after completing my Post-grad
- Go on a Europe tour
- Have a huge gothic library of my own
I love Misha's pick for life summed in a book title - Great Expectations! How truly perfect! And I wish you the best of luck on your gothic library - I want pictures as you acquire it! You are a force to reckoned with Misha! And a wonderfully talented and beautiful blogger!

I am so in awe of anyone students who manage to keep up a book blog!
ReplyDeleteI am already a follower of Misha's blog and I have to agree--she is worth serenading!
ReplyDeleteKathy - ME TOO!!! Another kind of neat twist to the Misha story is we discovered we are both studying Psychology; except she is focusing on Organizational Psych and I'm focused on Forensic Psych! Too, too cool!!!
ReplyDeleteJulie ~ She is definitely worth serenading!!! Hmm, kind of like you =]

ReplyDeleteIf you can blog while you are a student, you can blog while you are working. (it might even be easier!) and the thought of having to live on a greyhound bus is so horrible that no book could make it bearable...I hate buses!
ReplyDeleteOh she has totally won me over! I also would choose to have some one-on-one time with Ian McEwan, and like Misha, I tend to be a very loyal person. I am going to have to check her blog out. Thanks for the great serenade today Stacy and Misha!
