Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

Today’s women have a tremendous amount of opportunities laid out before them.  We have more available to us than at any other time period ever before.  Statistics show that women are close to breaking through that glass ceiling – we’re in politics, on Wall Street, doctors, lawyers, military personnel, wives and mothers to only name a few.  The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World breaks down the different time periods of woman’s life from being a single person all the way through to an empty nester or widowhood and what is important to focus on during those time periods.  God calls us to particular tasks during our life – we all have a calling – we all have a role to play in this game of life.  It is vital that we discover this role early on and live our lives with those essential steps in mind.  Do you know your spiritual gifts? Do you know what your calling is?  The Life Ready Woman breaks these questions down into such an easily understood mandate with grace & sensitivity.

There was only one small thing I did not particularly like with the book.  During the first few chapters it was mentioned several times that if you were reading the book and not a Christian to just be aware that the book was written with a Christian viewpoint.  I thought the repetitiveness of the statements was unnecessary and considering it IS a Christian book that the statements were pointless.

One of my favorite quotes is also tied to one of my favorite passages in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.  Ms. Feldhahn tells us “There will be times when you don’t like where you are, where it is actively painful. But you can still determine to focus on the fact that God can use you in your season.  And in many cases you are not there because you somehow “missed something” but because God in His inscrutable way has you there for a reason.”  Beautiful! Have you ever been in a place, a time, a season like this?

Finally, character is a major theme throughout the book.  “What you decide here and act on will either serve or shackle you for seasons to come. Character is the ground floor of life. Who you are will always be more important than what you do.”

I thoroughly enjoyed The Life Ready Woman and would recommend it to any woman who wants to improve her life.  And I just so happen to have an extra copy for a lucky woman provided by LitFuse Publicity.  Just leave your name and email address in the comments if you are interested.  I will use the randomizer generator on March 1st to select the winner of this giveaway copy.
