I must thank LLM from A Book Geek for tipping me off to this most excellent challenge! Fall is my favorite time of year and throw mysteries, thrillers, & suspense into that for a challenge then I've died and gone to heaven (no pun intended!)
Carl from Stainless Steel Droppings has hosted this unique challenge for FIVE years! Yep, that's right, he's been around the blogging world for five+ years! That is impressive in itself! For details on how to join in on this challenge (you can read from 1 book - 4 books OR even watch a film!) So what are ya waiting for??? Go on over and sign up! He's got really cool prizes and besides, what else are you going to do for the next 2 months - watch college football?!? go dawgs!!!
As this challenge includes my favorite genre to read, I'm going for the Peril the First and Peril on the Screen!
These are a few of the books from my selection that I can whittle down to 4 for the challenge (wonder if we get extra credit?):
- My Lost Daughter
by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg
- The Lucifer Code
by Charles Brokaw
- Mr. Toppit
by Charles Elton
- Once Wicked Always Dead
by T. Marie Benchley
- No Greater Sacrifice
by John Stipa
- The Prince of Mist
by Carlos Ruis Zafon
- Hailey's War
by Jodi Compton
- The Thieves of Darkness
by Richard Doetsch
- A Small Death in the Great Glen
by A.D. Scott
- Warlord
by Ted Bell
And the movie ~ well, I'm not sure about that one yet. I enjoy a good black & white suspense. I've seen The Birds....and every single version of Phantom of the Opera EXCEPT the on-stage theater production. But I've been known to turn the sound down if the background music is too scary...I'm a big fraidy cat when it comes to movies....
Sooo, if you have any suggestions on great suspenseful
b & w movies, I'd love to start a running list.
b & w movies, I'd love to start a running list.
That way I can FIND it when I need it!

I'm so glad you discovered the challenge and decided to join us. Yep, I've been around for awhile now...and old dog.
ReplyDeleteThe on-stage version of Phantom is wonderful, but if you've seen the film with Gerard Butler you have, in many ways, seen the stage version. Not quite, but pretty darn close. If you ever get a chance to see it, I highly recommend it.
thanks for taking part this year. Hope you have a fantastic time.
Don't ask my why cause most people make fun but the old, original version of 13 Ghosts to this day scares the crap out of me. There is also The Innocents and another more recent goodie The Others
ReplyDeleteAND, you must see Phantom onstage, it is outstanding. I've seen it five times and its still not enough.
Good luck with the challenge
Ahhh, the lovely, lovely days of Fall and what better way to celebrate than the R.I.P. Challenge! I'm joining in too...I've been looking forward to it and was wondering when Carl would be announcing (I participated last year). I wish I would have included The Lucifer Code too. I'm reviewing it in October. Maybe I'll add it!
ReplyDeleteGlad you'll be joining in!
thank you Carl for the lovely welcome ~ I'm really looking forward to joining in!
ReplyDeleteSenora - I so very much appreciate the tips on movies - I'm going to check them out right now!!! I'll let you know which ones I end up watching and if I'm terrified or not ;-)
Michelle ~ oh do add The Lucifer Code! It will be great to have someone else reading it along with me and then we can talk about it! Thank you for the wonderful welcome! I'm looking forward to the fun!!!
I just went and singed up for this. What a fantastic challenge! Fall is also my favorite time of the year and I already had a few darker novels on my TBR that I've been saving for October.
ReplyDeleteI did this challenge last year!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the coolest challenge? I saw everyone having such fun with it last year that I wasn't going to miss out this year. Have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see new people joining in! Enjoy your selections!
ReplyDeleteI participated for the first time last year and had the greatest time. I have been looking forward to RIP V since November :)
ReplyDeleteI just found the challenge yesterday, totally going to sign up for it.
