This is Day No. 3 for Book Blogger Appreciation Week. This event began in 2008 by Amy Riley of My Friend Amy
in an effort to recognize the hard work and contribution of book bloggers to the promotion and preservation of a literate culture actively engaged in discussing books, authors, and a lifestyle of reading.
The week spotlights and celebrates the work of active book bloggers through guest posts, awards, giveaways, and community activities.
Each day we are offered a question to blog about highlighting the work of our compadres! Today's question:
Book bloggers can be some of the most influential people around! Today we invite you to share with us a book or genre you tried due to the influence of another blogger. What made you cave in to try something new and what was the experience like?
My reading selection has been influenced by some fantastic bloggers! Allow me to share just a few of those:

Find Your Next Book Here
Jenners' site is one of those that no matter what kind of reading slump I am in I will always find just the right suggestion from her. I know that I will get a laugh too so Find Your Next Book Here is doubly valuable to me! She's encouraged me to read Michael Chabon and we both share a love for Stieg Larsson. One book I just finished this week was recommended by Jenners and I cannot thank her enough. The reading was rough simply because the subject matter is so tragic, but definitely check out her review of Columbine by Dave Cullen.

Tales of Whimsy
Juju at Tales of Whimsy is just that ~ whimsical, bright, delightful and her reviews are so uniquely wonderful! I have read more of a variety of young adult books since I discovered her site so many months ago! A couple that have really stuck with me are Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton and The Red Umbrella by Christina Diaz Gonzalez. Both reviews will leave you wanting more Juju!

red headed book child
Michelle has such a great site and we read a lot of the same authors like Karen White, Carol Goodman and Tana French. She's been in the bookstore & now, librarian business for years so she knows her books intimately! I can count on Michelle to suggest any book in any genre and I'm pretty sure I will love it! A recent recommendation from her is The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse. A perfect review for a book that is one that shall stay with me for awhile.
These are only three amazing blogs where I have received reading recommendations that have opened up my repertoire tremendously! ahhh, there's so many more I could mention! Enjoy!

I've visited a couple of those blogs, and I will check out the other one. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't read any of these books yet. Must check them out.
ReplyDeleteWell, by golly, aren't you the sweetest person there is. Thank you so much for the shout out. I, too, have looked to your blog for recommendations and other viewpoints. I am so glad we found each other in the blog world and look foward to sharing more stories, opinions and fun in the years to come!
ReplyDeleteThank you again!
Jenners' blog is awesome! She has great recommendations.
ReplyDeleteI follow all of those blogs are agree with you. What a great way to show your appreciation to them, high five to that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thing to do in a blog. I really appreciate Jenners' blog, too, especially that particular entry for some reason. haha. (I wrote the book.) Thanks for sending people there.
ReplyDeleteI know it's a tough subject and many people need a little coaxing and wonder whether they really want to dive in. This short video summarizes the Columbine book in in three minutes.
There's a lot more info at my COLUMBINE site, including reviews, an instructor guide, and a massive cache of evidence.
I will have to check out some of those other books. I started Freedom and I'm really loving it, but I'm a slow reader and it's thick. But it is a quick, easy read.
I love Jenner's blog but aren't familiar with the other two. I'm off to check them out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacy!! I'm glad you read "Columbine" ... and Dave Cullen already got here! He's amazing in how he visits blogs. I'm glad you thought the book was worthwhile .. even though it wasn't always the easiest read. And I can't wait until you try Chabon!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind kind words. I really do appreciate them!
Jenners is one of my favorites too :)
