Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

About Licensed for Trouble: PJ Sugar receives shocking news that she's inherited the Kellogg family mansion. Rescue comes in the form of Max Smith, a mysterious handyman willing to trade his services for PJ's investigative skills. But PJ already has a full docket with cramming for her PI license and nurturing a growing romance with her boss, Jeremy Kane. Can she take on Max's case without dropping the ball?

Find out more about book one, Nothing But Trouble and book two, Double Trouble.

My Review:

*Series Alert* Licensed for Trouble is the third and final book in the PJ Sugar series. It is not imperative that you read the first two books (Nothing But Trouble and Double Trouble), but it is strongly recommended.

My Thoughts:
This book had me laughing from the very first paragraph, and throughout the book I was highly entertained, enjoying PJ Sugar's antics.  I could not believe an adult - smart, single woman could get into as many scrapes and jams and come out on the other side, shining as could PJ, but then my family probably wonders the same about me at times too! Let's see..... there's the very beginning when she's caught *on camera* in a hot dog bun costume trying to capture a woman who has bailed on her bail.  Another time, PJ tries to get information from a possible murder suspect by going tandem sky jumping with the suspect!  And each scene is written even funnier than the last.

I grew up loving Trixie Belden books (did anyone else read those or was it all Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys for you?) and although PJ is not surrounded by a cast of friends to help her solve the mysteries, she is enveloped by a crowd of family that love and adore her and try to help her out of her scrapes.  PJ is adopted and at times allows that fact to come between her and everyone else around her.  In the end, though, love prevails.  Almost, it seems, in spite of PJ.

I like that Ms. Warren allows PJ to be human, flawed with prickly emotions and yet she can also come across in her actions as Christian. Isn't that what's important - our actions speak louder than words?

First Lines:
PJ knew how to spot a criminal. Even when that criminal might be dressed as a two-hundred-pound raccoon, complete with bandit eyes and a ringed tail, toting a ten-pound pumpkin toward the apple dunking and hot cider station near the cherry red Kellogg Farms barn.
Licensed for Trouble is a solid 4 from my quills!  If you've read any of Susan May Warren's books let me know what you've liked about her writing......and if you even know what I'm talking about when I say 'Trixie Belden' then by all means please, please please tell me!!! I must commiserate with you!!!
It is with tremendous thanks that I received Licensed for Trouble from LitFuse Publishing
for my honest review. In no way did receiving the book influence my opinion or review.
