- What do you do when you're not blogging or reading?
Hang out with friends, watch movies, walk (I am walking in my 4th half marathon in September), and cross-stitch
- Describe your favorite place to read and why you love it so much.
I have a squishy off-white couch that has always been fantastic for hours and hours without making your butt sore! Unfortunately it’s seen better days and needs a good cleaning, but it’s excellent. I also love sitting outside, but it’s very buggy now and I have to use the Off which is great but then I smell funny the rest of the day.
- What is something we don't know about you and haven't been able to read in your "About Me" section?
While I lived in New York, I once spent the night in Central Park. It was to get tickets to a free play starring Meryl Streep, Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marcia Gay Harden, Natalie Portman, Kevin Kline, John Goodman (“The Seagull” by Chekhov). But really the camping out part was much more fun than the play.
- If you could invite 3 authors over to your home (ANY authors) for a luscious beverage and the most divine cheese and yummy chocolates, who would you invite?
You say any but you don’t say if they have to be alive. I’m going to assume they should be. Dead people might be off-putting to eat around. David Sedaris would have everyone in stitches. Ditto for Bill Bryson. So to balance them out, Anne Tyler. She isn’t laugh-a-minute but you can tell she has a good sense of humor and would appreciate David and Bill.
- If your bookshelves caught on fire what 5 books would you save?
My Book House Books (I know there are 13 of them but they’re all together so I’m counting the set as 1.) And then 4 books from Norma Klein: It’s Okay if You Don’t Love Me, Love is One of the Choices, Just Friends, My Life As a Body. They’re out of print and tough to find. All the rest of my books can be replaced. I don’t see books as talisman or precious – they’re paper. I know that’s sacrilege to some people, but not after you’ve worked at a bookstore or for a publisher.
- Name 3 songs on your playlist right now. Do you listen to music while you read?
Not usually when I read. Sometimes, but usually I read in silence. Here are the last three songs that played on my iPod which is on shuffle:
Happy Phantom –Tori Amos
Darlington County – Bruce Springsteen
Ticket to Ride – The Beatles
- Name a quality you admire in others and a quality you admire in yourself.
Intellectual curiosity. Patience.
- Name 3 things on your bucket list. (things to accomplish in your lifetime)
I don’t have a bucket list. I take things in life as they come. I would really like to go to Greece at some point, and I’d like to go to Australia. And I haven’t ridden on a motorcycle. Those are 3 things I’d like to do at some point. But I’ve done so many things, I wouldn’t regret it if they don’t happen.

doesn't it look like fun! Thank you Carin for being such a lovely interviewee for the Sunday Serenade! You truly deserve the accolades!

Great post, and so fabulous to read about Carin! I have the same squishy couch and love every second of reading while sitting in it!
ReplyDeleteSweet chaise!
ReplyDeleteLove this feature!
ReplyDeleteI too love this meeting new bloggers through these links.
ReplyDeleteI think I definitely need to visit her blog!! Bill Bryson and David Sedaris are two of my favorites!!! And I admire anyone who spent the night in Central Park!
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me!
ReplyDeleteJuju, if you'd like a sweet chaise, it's from Ethan Allen. You get to pick the fabrics and which side the arm goes on and the feet and everything, which is really great.
Coffee and a Book Chick, I am going to soon be calling Stanley Steamer to see if they can make my sofa "white" again. Then I need to Scotch-guard it again. It held up for the first 10 years but now it has a blanket mostly covering it.
That looks cozy! Thanks Stacy for having her for the interview. She's rock! ;p
ReplyDeleteI love Carin from Caroline Bookbinder! She's one of my favorite book bloggers. Anyhow, I just wanted to say hi - I just stumbled across your blog and became a new follower. I look forward to your posts :)
