Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

Shel & Johnny - How Could One Go Wrong With That Combination!

My baby girl (well, she's not such a baby anymore as she's driving a car now!) but, my sweet girl grew up loving Shel Silverstein's poetry from the time she could read on her own to even now she treasures her collection of Silverstein's books.  Anyways, on Saturday nights one of the local radio stations plays Classic Country Music and since my kids were little I've listened most Saturdays....and if the kids are off with their friends now that they are older, well, they get the text "guess what night it is?!?" drives them crazy some nights and others they'll call up and sing along with me to annoy their friends!

Well, to my utter delight I came across/discovered "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash which I had always thought was by The Man in Black.....this youtube clip is awesome! For any fan of either Shel or Johnny or in my case - both - it's both entertaining and sweet. Enjoy!

  1. This is fantastic! I loved Shel Silverstein growing up as well. I've still got A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends on my bookshelf.

    Thanks for sharing!
