Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens. ~The Shadow of the Wind

Mr. Penumbra's Twenty-Four Hour Book Store by Robin Sloan - It's FREE!

I must thank the lovely Brenna from Literary Musings for the link and tip about this free e-book. Hop as fast as you can, as quickly as your fingers will fly across the keyboard to read this short story Mr. Penumbra's Twenty-Four Hour Book Store! You can read this itsy-bitsy story in your Google Reader while on your break (and be so glad you did!) for FREE or download to your e-reader for only $0.99.

Mr. Penumbra's Twenty-Four Hour Book Store in some ways reminded me of The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruis Zafon, one of my absolute favorite books of all times.  Probably because both stories have a mysterious storehouse of books that are stacked high to the ceiling with ancient tomes. There's ladders that must be used to reach the books on the highest shelves; a secretive old man who has three absolutes of working in his book store; and a young man desperate for a job, any job in the present economy.  This is one of those wondrous short stories that leaves you dreaming about "what if..."  Enjoy it ~ and come back to let me know what you thought!

Thank you Brenna for the awesome, amazing tip!!!
